New Years Eve

We spent the first part of the day looking at more beaters that drive. The weather was questionable all day so we didn’t know whether to hit up Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke where celebrities are known to party on New Years or the Fireball Party in Trellis Bay on Beef Island which was literally only a stones throw away. We chose the fireball party in case of a torrential downpour.

We got there early, cause we didn’t want to miss out on parking and finding a spot in the beach. To our surprise this was no Vegas night club, and arriving Caribbean time was more appropriate.

Nevertheless, we killed some time by hopping on a taxi boat. We traveled to a rock in the middle of nowhere housing a happy little restaurant and hotel (and one donkey) ironically named The Last Resort. We arrived at the rock, and were immediately greeted and served each a glass of complimentary champagne by a beautiful girl in a devil outfit. The theme for New years was Heaven & Hell. Apparently, party reservations have been sold out for the last 6 months – so there was no way we were going to be able to stay for the lavish meals that were being served! We chilled on the hammock, drank our champagne, and eventually travelled back to Trellis Bay for the Fireball Party.

The Last Resort
At Trellis Bay, we feasted on a local buffet of rice, fish, conch and all the fixings. Of course this meal was coupled with a Painkiller and Bushwaker!

Midnight strikes, we opened 2010 with a bottle of champagne as we watched the lighting of the Fireman, the fireballs and fireworks.

New Years Day

“Rest Day” – nuff said

Day after New Years Day

We travelled on the ferry to the island Virgin Gorda, to spend a day at the world famous Baths. As we arrived to the main gates to the spectacular caves and beaches we were treated to the “resident price” of $0 to enter this National Park.

The Baths are volcanic rocks that have eroded into piles of boulders on the beach. The boulders have formed natural pools, tunnels, arches and scenic caves that are open to the ocean. To get to the beach was tricky! We needed to walk up slick and steep rocks, grabbing onto ropes. We came across one water filled cave that has been made famous by many bathing suit models such as Tyra Banks in her Sports Illustrated Issue. Playboy and Maxim models have also done photo shoots here, so this little cave has seen its fair share of supermodels. Today is was just us :o)

The stones were so slick that I needed to take off my sandal. It took only one wave of the ocean into the cave, and my sandal was gone under a huge boulder! I waited for 15 minutes before it came back out! (I still don’t know what it did down there!)

After a 20 minute walk through the caves, we were at the Baths beach and Devils Bay beach!

Ill let the pictures do the talking…
