Valentines Day 2010

Ben's mum, dad and Dano arrived the day before Valentines Day. They brought with them all the luxuries of home that we miss dearly - bed head shampoo, salon hair dye, my favourite deoderant, granola bars, mini eggs, shortbread cookies, oh, and dog toys for Dundee! We flung the suitcases down at home, and drove straight into the safari to our island secret - Trunk Bay. The trade winds dominated the island, which made for a least 10 feet waves that day.

Celebrating any birthday isnt complete without a visit to the Bomba Shack - a local waterng hole. The owner, Bomba built the shack on the beach in Cappoons Bay in 1976. Because he didnt have lots of money for building supplies, he used driftwood, pieces of tin roofing, broken surf boards and anything else he was able to scrounge or which happened to wash up on the beach! The shack, a collage of trash is famous for some wild entertaining. Ladies panties and bras dangle from the roof, with signs that offer "free T-shirts if you get naked for Bomba". No joke, this is the place where "anything goes". We drank some red stripes in the sunset, before heading across the road for a completely different atmosphere.

The Bomba Shack We treated Ben's mum to world class cuisine Birthday at the sophistocated Sugar Mill. She's was celebrating her big 29th birthday. The restaurant is located inside a romantic 374 year old stone sugar mill ruin. The evening began with personalized menus that the waitress gave o us which celebrated Carol's Birthday on the cover. We lavished on caribbean cuise which included, shrimp and chip salad, plump game hen, tender pork, mahi fish, some wine, and alomong chocolate cheesecake for desert. We went home happy with fat and full bellies to bed.

The Sunday morning sun woke us up at 7:30 am. We packed a beach bag, and headed towards the ferry. We were taking a ferry to the 4 mile long Jost van Dyke, and island which Ben and I have not yet expolored on our own. We went to White Bay - named for its long and lovely white sand beach, White Bay, is very popular with boaters. In the first photo, we were the first ones on the beach. When we left fashionably early, the beach had become the las vegas of the british virgin islands. Its popular with the US Virgin Island guys and gals, who have no trouble getting to the island - as there are no customs/immigration offiers waiting for them on the beach!
