Man of the match

Football season has a kick start here in BVI this March. Ben was invited to come play for the local team - the Wolues (pronounced Waloos).

The name the Wolues, is suspected to have been derived from the English team the Wolves, but the team captain accidentally spelled it with a U rather than a V. The name hasn't change since then.

Ben had a great game, and even sometimes tried to outrun the fast locals. About 5 other guys played the ball at Bens level while the rest of the lot consisted of a team of Donovan Baileys.
I watched the match with Nikki, well sort of!

In the second half, the game seemed to carry on... finally the ref whistled the end of the game - second half was 55 minutes long! Apparently the game is considered to be over not when 45 minutes is up, but when the sun sets!

After the game, the guys went over to Pussers for a drink, where Ben was awarded Man of the Match together with Clive. At the end of each game, the man of the match is awarded with Bling (really tacky bling!) that he must wear for the rest of the evening. Next time, Ben has to bring the bling back with an additional new piece. We are looking for a wall clock in the department store....

On another note, I think we finally found a boat we can afford! A little rusty around the edges?

  1. Nice boat - although think we will just pass on the "Maiden Voyage" - thanks for the invite!
